Sail to an 800-year-old fortress on its own island. Pharaoh’s Island sits about 250 metres off the Taba coast, crowned by the castle the Crusaders built and Saladin took and rebuilt. We cross by boat, walk the walls and towers with a guide, snorkel the reef around the island if you like, then stop above Fjord Bay for the best view on the Gulf of Aqaba on the way home.

What your day looks like
Passport needed 48 hours ahead. We register every traveller with the authorities for the Taba road, so please send a clear photo of your passport at least 48 hours before the trip (we’ll ask for it after you book).
The vehicle leaves Asala at 7:45 AM sharp. It’s about two hours up the coast road to Taba.
Coast road to TabaAround 9:45 we reach the shore facing Pharaoh’s Island, with Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia all in view across the gulf.
Boat to Pharaoh’s IslandA short crossing of about 250 metres to the island’s little harbour.
Saladin’s CastleA guided walk through the walls, towers, cisterns and lookouts, and the story of Crusaders, Saladin and the Red Sea trade route.
Snorkel the reef (optional)Clear water and coral right around the island, for anyone who wants a swim before we head back.
Fjord Bay viewpointAround 14:00 we leave Taba and stop on the cliff road above Fjord Bay for photos of its turquoise inlet.
Back to DahabAlong the coast road, arriving in the late afternoon.
We plan the day around the weather, the sea and the group’s pace, so timings can shift a little.

Booking, payment and cancellation
How booking works
- Full payment is required to book — there’s no deposit option for day trips
- Free cancellation up to 7 days before the trip; bookings stay open until 24 hours before
- 10% early-bird discount for bookings made at least 7 days before the trip
- Max 10 participants. If the stock is filled, the backorder option at checkout puts you on the waiting list
Refunds
- Within 7 days of the trip your payment is already committed to booking our services, so cancellations, late arrivals and no-shows can’t be refunded
- Transfer fees are deducted from any refund
- You’re refunded in full if we postpone or cancel — for weather, too few participants, or other reasons on our side
- If you can’t be placed off the waitlist, you’re refunded (transfer fees apply) or credited towards a later trip
On the water. Safety comes first: life jackets are on the boat, stay with the group inside the castle, and snorkel only where the guide shows you.
