Once a year, the Muzeina and Tarabeen Bedouin clans bring their camels to Wadi Zalaga for a real desert race — over 40 camels, 30km of open ground, and a crowd of Bedouin families who have come to watch. We camp out for two days, catch the race, and eat lunch afterwards at Nawamis, a 3,000-year-old burial site out in the desert.
What the two days look like
Day one: we drive out from Dahab to Wadi Zalaga and set up camp before the race starts. The Muzeina and Tarabeen clans bring their camels — well over 40 of them — and the race itself covers around 30km of open desert, with families and riders gathering to watch. We cheer, eat dinner together as the sun goes down, and sleep out under a full sky of stars. Day two: after breakfast we hike toward Nawamis, a cluster of ancient stone burial structures thought to be around 3,000 years old, where we stop for lunch before making our way back to Dahab in the afternoon.

Full payment is required to confirm your seat — we do not hold spots on a deposit for this trip. Book at least 7 days before the trip date and you will get 10% off automatically. Your booking is confirmed once payment clears; if we have not received payment within 24 hours of your booking, we release the seat so someone else can take it. Cancel up to 7 days before the trip for wallet credit, a new date, or a refund minus card fees (usually 1.5–3.5%) (full refund, payment fees deducted). After that, cancellations are not refundable, because we buy in camp supplies and lock in group transport ahead of time — if your plans change, let us know as early as you can and we will see what we can do.
